Scaling and root planing is a deeper cleaning. We focus on the pockets around the teeth and smooth the roots so bacteria can’t settle back in.
Why it’s important
Gum disease doesn’t always hurt at first. By the time you notice swelling or bleeding, there may already be changes in the gums and bone. Cleaning under the gumline gives your mouth a better chance to heal and keeps problems from getting worse.
What to expect
We’ll numb the area so you’re comfortable. The teeth are cleaned under the gums, and the roots are smoothed. You’ll leave knowing how to care for your gums at home so healing can continue.
